Only a select few fullbacks usually get drafted and the likelihood of Bolen's name being called in New York on either April 25 or 26 took a hit when he wasn't invited to participate in the NFL combine in Indianapolis. While he may not have the best blocking ability, Bolen has very good ball carrying skills and is a talented receiver that caught 30 passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns in 35 college games - 33 with Louisville and two for Illinois. His best season came during his junior year when he amassed 456 rushing yards on 88 carries, 14 catches and eight total TDs despite missing three games with a knee injury. He had the third 100-yard plus rushing game of his career in a win over Kansas State on Sept. 17, then rushed for a personal-best three touchdowns in a victory over Middle Tennessee a month later. A versatile and powerful back that spent much of his senior season as a tailback, Bolen possesses the necessary physical skills to succeed in the NFL but his average speed could be an issue. Likely inherits his toughness from father Jim, who earned awards for valor in Vietnam and is a former boxer, bodyguard and professional soldier.
